Tumi Hlongwane (CA) SA

Tumi Hlongwane is a qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) with extensive experience in the financial services and capital markets. She completed her B.Com degree at the University of the Witwatersrand in 2004, completed a Higher Diploma in Accounting in 2005, and qualified as a Chartered Accountant, SA in 2009. Her articles were completed at Deloitte Johannesburg within the Financial Institutions Services Team. After completing her studies Tumi joined Nedbank Capital as the Executive Assistant to the Managing Executive: Nedbank Capital where she focused on providing technical support to the Managing Executive while executing ad hoc projects. She later joined the Nedbank Capital Corporate Finance team. Her projects included assignments in various sectors, such as telecommunications and energy sectors.

In her role her services included financial modeling, due diligence, deal structuring and asset valuation. During this period she was actively involved in the merger of Kagiso Trust Investments and Tiso Holdings, now renamed Kagiso Tiso Holdings. Tumi later joined Absa Capital’s Investment Banking Advisory team as a Manager. Her projects included client coverage of Natural Resources clients, valuations, financial modeling and equity financing transactions. She is currently a founding partner of Mohau Capital which is a corporate finance and a shareholder in Mohau Equity Partners. She is a non-executive director of various companies including Mazi Asset Management.

Dr Penny Moumakwa (Director)

A qualified medical doctor, Dr Penny Tlhabi has extensive expereince at executive level within the private and public healthcare sectors. From 1998 until 2002 she held the rol of non-executive director on the Board of Healthcare Funders and served as a the organisation’s deputy chairman from 2002 until 2005 as well as its chief executive officer in 2002 and 2005. Penny was also employed as the CEO of Transmed Administrators from 1996 to 2000 and served on the Board of the Private Healthcare Forum (PHF) from 2002 to 2005. She was a member of the organisation’s executive committee in 2004/5.

Penny worked as Head of Discovery: People and Sustainability, responsible for developing and implementing Discovery’s human capital strategy and served on the Central Executive Committee and the Board of Discovery Health. She is the founder of Mohau Equity Partners (“MEP”) an investment holding company. MEP is a strategic long-term investor with more than 51% women equity. MEP was founded in partnership with Discovery (PTY) Ltd and seeks to scale entrepreneurs in a way that benefits their growth and enhances value for all stakeholders. She is currently a board member for listed entities Clicks Group Limited and Growthpoint Limited. She is also on the boards of Wits Donald Gordon Medical Centre Witkoppen Health and Welfare Centre.

Yvonne Motsisi (Director)

Yvonne has extensive experience in the healthcare industry having served at executive level within the Fund Management and Group Branding and Communications functions at Medscheme and Life Healthcare. She attained a BA (Social Science) from National University of Lesotho (1987) and a BA Honours from University of Zimbabwe (1988). She joined Medscheme immediately after returning to South Africa in 1994 having achieved a Masters Degree in Industrial Relations at University of Sydney and an MBA through the University of Canberra, Australia. As Medscheme’s Corporate Service Executive, she was responsible for managing a portfolio of medical schemes before being promoted to the Executive Committee as Divisional Director of the Consulting Division.

Yvonne was later appointed Executive Director: Branding, Communication and Transformation responsible for the formulation and implementation of the branding, communications and Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment strategies across the AfroCentric Group. Active in a number of organisations involved in the transformation of the healthcare industry, Yvonne served as Chairperson for Aid of Aids (a leader in HIV/Aids disease management), a Trustee for the Financial Services Board’s National Education Foundation, and is past director of the Board of Healthcare Funders.She also served as the chairperson of the Sasol Inzalo Employee Scheme Trust, and continues to serve as director of Sasol Khanyisa Employee Trust. She is a Director of FEDHA (w women’s empowerment Group with interests in healthcare). Yvonne joined Life Healthcare where, as Group marketing and Communications Executive, she was responsible for driving the Group’s marketing, branding and communications strategies from 2014 until 2019. She serves on the board of Copessa an NPO that focuses on the prevention of violence against children and women (GBVF). A winner of the University of Canberra’s Distinguished Alumni Award in 2019, she is currently a member of the Institute of Directors Southern Africa (IoDSA) where she completed her directors development training programme.

Nomkhita Nqweni (Director)

Nomkhita has a wealth of experience at executive level in ogranisations that are active in the investment banking and financial services sectors both locally and internationally. She amassed a wealth of experience over some 14 years across various positions within Alexander Forbes having started as an employee benefits consultant to Pension and Provident funds, she served as founding executive member of Investment Solutions and by the time she left the group she was the Managing Director of Alexander Forbes Financial Services and part of the Group Executive Management Committee. She joined Barclays Africa, later Absa Group Limited in June 2010 where she spent 10 years. As a member of the organisation’s Executive Committee, she coordinated the delivery of non banking financial services leading investment advisory, wealth fiduciary, banking and credit solutions to ultra-high ne worth wealth management clients of Absa and Barclays on the African continent.

In addition she was responsible for the Bank’s Asset management business amassing R300bn of retail and Institutional Investors as well as running the Insurance business with more than 4 million policy holders. As an executive running the Africa businesses she had responsibility for teams based in London and Geneva covering the continent and was part of the EMEA Executive Committee. Driven by her passion for developing talent and skills development Nomkhita served as an Executive Member, Deputy President and President of the Association for Black Securities and Investment Professionals from 2004 to 2009. She also chaired the Barclays Africa Diversity and Inclusion Council, a forum which drives the Group’s global diversity and inclusion strategy for Africa. In 2006, she launched the Absip Women In Focus mentorship programme aimed at supporting the growth of women leadership in the financial services sector. She currently serves on the boards of listed entities Vodacom Group Limited and Old Mutual Limited. In response to the COVID relief need in South Africa, she served pro bono as the inaugural interim CEO of Solidarity Fund.
